READ 180 SYLLABUS

Objective: The eleventh grade Read 180 course is designed to help students begin to apply the English skills that they have obtained. It is a course to help students increase their reading levels, spelling skills and reading skills.

Major Units: Research, Debate, Resumes, Interview Skills, Technology Skills, Podcasting, Blogging, and ethics.

Plagiarism: is the unacknowledged use of another writer’s words, thoughts, or ideas. Plagiarism has become a much bigger problem with the easy availability of internet resources and papers. Any student caught plagiarizing will be given a zero on the assignment. Plagiarism is absolutely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

ProgressBook: You are responsible for checking ProgressBook on a weekly basis. It is important that you know your grade at all times. There are no surprises when it comes to your grade. If you have a question about your grade, ask me!

Texts: This class room is a paperless class. Any books that we will use will stay in the classroom.

Wikispace: You will be responsible for checking the wikispace for all announcements, assignments and handouts. Your blogs are time and date stamped so turning in late assignments is not accepted.

Reading Counts: Our goal is to read 25 books per student this year. I will be doing this competition with you! I am reading young adult books, so ask me about my current reading list, maybe I am reading something you will like!
